Every 6 months we as drivers are faced with the same challenge, changing from summer to winter tires or vice versa. A possible alternative to this could be all-weather tires, which, as explained here, can be driven all year round. In addition, there is no need to arrange appointments for the classic tire change. Whether an all-season tire is the ideal choice depends on your driving style. We explain here what you should pay attention to.
The use of summer and winter all-weather tires should be considered for low mileage of up to 10,000 km and predominantly urban mobility. This is particularly the case in temperate climatic zones. For all other usage behavior, special winter and summer tires should be used with regard to mileage, road and weather conditions.
The service life of all-weather tires is on average 40,000 km and should then be changed.
How to recognize all-season tires:
easily recognizable hybrid profile character
circumferential longitudinal grooves (typical characteristic of summer tires)
profile block interlocking (typical of winter tires)
several stable profile blocks
profile less flat than summer tires
profile less deep than winter tires
harder mixture of rubber material
M+S identification (Mud and Snow, indicates sufficient surface performance in mud and snow)
3PMSF identification (3 Peak Mountain Snow Flake, so-called Alpine symbol, mandatory from 10/2024)
